尊勝佛母乃佛陀顯密聖教中之密咒乘；而密咒乘又分四部續，尊勝佛母屬於事部續；而事部續又分六種姓，此屬最根本之如來種姓；如來種姓又分八部，此屬頂髻部；頂髻部中，頂髻大白傘蓋有四續、頂髻尊勝有三續、頂髻無垢有一續、頂髻大悲最勝陀羅尼有一續，總共九續，此屬佛身頂髻所化現之尊勝續。
尊勝佛母為佛陀頂髻所化現，頂髻乃佛身最上勝之處，因此較其他部位所化現之本尊更為殊勝；尊勝佛母就體性而言乃是無量光如來，但為令眾生輕易、迅速成就之故，現為佛母之身饒益有情，是成就迅速、加持強大之本尊天，無論藏傳、漢傳都極為重視，是著名之長壽三尊之一。
雖然尊勝佛母以延壽、淨罪、離惡趣著稱，但其功德遠遠不止如此，僅羯磨法共約三十餘種，並有四十五種功德利益，能以一本尊成辦一切本尊之事業，功德利益廣大，加持威力不可思議。
簡略摘錄《佛頂尊勝陀羅尼》之功德如下：
1、能淨一切惡趣生死苦惱。
2、能破一切地獄、閻魔世界、傍生之苦無有遺餘。
3、能破一切地獄之業、迴生善道。
4、一經於耳，先世所造一切惡業悉皆消滅。
5、當得清淨勝妙之身。
6、隨所生處憶持不忘，得宿命通。
7、隨意游歷諸佛淨土及諸天宮，一切菩薩皆為敞開門扉悉無障礙。
8、若人欲終，須臾憶念此陀羅尼還得增壽。
9、身口意業皆得清淨。
10、常住安樂亦無苦痛，隨其福利悉蒙安隱。
11、得一切如來之所眷顧，一切菩薩同為守護，一切天神常為侍衛。
12、得一切諸佛授菩提記，身光照曜一切剎土，究竟獲證無上涅槃。
此尊勝陀羅尼乃快速滿願、累積資糧、懺悔惡業、免墮惡趣、往生極樂、究竟成佛之極殊勝法門。

About the Puja
A manifestation from the Buddha's crown, Ushnisha Vijaya, also known as Namgyalma in Tibetan Buddhism, embodies longevity, good health, and purification, and holds a revered place in both Tibetan and Han Chinese traditions as one of the three deities associated with long life.
The seventh lunar month, or "filial piety month," is a special time to perform good deeds, express gratitude to the Three Jewels and Three Roots, make offerings to monastics, dedicate merits to deceased loved ones for favorable rebirths, and commit acts of kindness and generosity to help alleviate the suffering of all sentient beings, including oneself. This period emphasizes compassion, generosity, and spiritual growth.

1) Offering in Thousands, ie thousand sets of water, food, fresh flowers, incense, lights, scented oils, torma, exquisite music, parasols, victory banners, prayer flags and so forth.
